FoxyTunes 3.0 - the Web is your playlist!
FoxyTunes 3.0 for Firefox is finally here!
This version adds a very cool new functionality – it can turn any webpage into a playlist you can play right there on that page – without needing to launch any external media players or programs. How is this possible? With the new Yahoo! Media Player.

What’s Yahoo! Media Player?
Yahoo! Media Player is a really cool music player that lives on the web and can play music found on web pages as a playlist. The player floats ‘above’ the page content, so even if you scroll up and down the page, the player stays at the same position right in front of you.

Up until now, in order to add this player to a web page, you had to be the owner of that page. But what about sites that still haven’t added this to their pages? FoxyTunes to the resque!
Yahoo! Media Player + FoxyTunes = Play any page
The latest version of FoxyTunes enhances any page that has music on it by automatically adding the Yahoo! Media Player to that page. Then, you can conveniently play any track on that page or even the whole page as one big playlist!
Here’s an example – a few songs for you to enjoy:
- Negativland - Richard Nixon Died Today
- Tilly and The Wall - Pot Kettle Black
- Less Than Jake - Does The Lion City Still Roar?
If you have the latest FoxyTunes for Firefox installed, you’ll see a tiny ‘play’ buttons next to each song – just push them and see what happens
Also, you can already see the Yahoo! Media Player in action on many great music sites, such as Aurgasm, Soul Sides and List of the Day on Yahoo! Music Blogs.
By the way, if you would prefer that FoxyTunes didn’t add the player to webpages, you can always disable this functionality in FoxyTunes ‘configuration’ menu.
Auto Player Switching – Look Ma, No Hands!
The best thing is that once you start playing a webpage with the new Yahoo! Media Player you can instantly control it with FoxyTunes, even while surfing in other tabs or browser windows – just make sure to leave the page that’s currently playing somewhere in the background. And, if you close that page, your FoxyTunes will automatically switch back to your regular media player – be it iTunes, Windows Media Player, Winamp etc.

We are very excited about this new version of FoxyTunes, and hope you’ll be as excited as we are!
So, check it out here and let us know what you think!

Great update - v useful. 2 points:
1) A feature request - to see track progress, so you can fast forward to it. Important in case you accidentally close a tab and I was in the middle of listening to a 30 min podcast, I have to listen to it all again.
2nd - bug noticed with My Yahoo. Y Media Player stops playing the track if you open the white page reader within My Yahoo that opens for some websites. Annoying for same reason as point no. 1 above.

Nice plugin but sadly it screws up the track info when used with foobar2000. It shows track name as the artist and foobar2000 as the track.

This is a new and as engaging as conjunction of Yahoo Search was designed
to be a total service coupled with Firefox Update where somewhere in
process of installing this Toolbar so was a Google,I may be wrong but this is Internet Explorer combination too if you know how Music service cost and was part of merger attempt which puts MSN in firm position, maybe AOL is forced into
background and the major default browser search engines are secure with the
web-site services.Where I intended to visit friends statements at Readr
or del.icio.us who have been modified and you only see fixed positions as new and upgraded from this development and my accounts revised I recall how an
award was given to A.T.&.T. for a year or how related to 360 it maintained IBM Omnifind as “support Sponsor.” Now as I see it you can be on either Coast where the mainstay of the IT Industry is kept and endorsed which is the reason it is
utilized by schools, corporations, governments and contemporary moderns be they wealthy families, singles or professionals out to gain more. And as they can use what ability they have acquired they refund a small portion of what they have
accrued in the new value economy piece rate, piece meal and by token credit
measures. The only sample of what I can do is something as the following:
“Johnny’s a loser;never a winner
Always a failure never success
Asked to be forgiven for half righteous sinnin’
But they just condemned him in the end
Johnny’s a loser,kind of a boozer;coffee medication,gone dog and cigarettes
Are his only friends don’t you know;but he’s got a lot of enemies though
The multi-national corporate militarist Government,State-church
Psycho social control;media hype technocratic jockocracy
Are his enemies don’t you know.
Suck up to the media be considered a hero, that’s the way society is now a days
Prostitute yourself to the public and be elected President of the U.S.A.
Johnny’s a loser,kind of a boozer;coffee and medication are his only friends
Asked to be forgiven for half righteous sinnin’
But they just condemned him in the end.”
Measure For Measure : A Midsummer’s Night Dream
“There once was a young wayward boy,who found himself out West
He had no place to call his own, said,’So lonesome I could die.’
On a road to oblivion,he found his way back home.
Disconsolate adult averred whence of his family.
He would ride on saddle back,Partrade spurs sheriff
Enforcing the plaintiff’s rights, handcuff ‘em to a tree.
Once a friend of Sangamo, tell Lincoln tales of blue,
‘The bonnet, rose and young un’s are simply all I need’
The rampant lion in his digs with flag of Illinois
Don’t Tread On Me it is his as a tenant in Skokie.”
THAT IS SO LAME,MAN;WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT EXCUSE.

We need you to port in Google Chrome to this player. That would be awesome. I use Firefox for surfing, but use Pandora in a Google Chrome application window. It lowers the load on Firefox. Please add this feature. Thanks.

You know what would be great if it made its way into FoxyTunes? Automatically pause the music player every time the user plays a YouTube video or any video on some random site, then resumes playing once the video is over.

Its a nuisance!
You have to spend more time adjusting the settins so that: — something will sound than enjoing the promised musical bliss or KARMA.
