Twitter + FoxyTunes = TwittyTunes!

Friday, April 20th, 2007

So, you’re listening to some tunes and you suddenly feel the urge to let all your friends know about the great song that just started playing…

TwittyTunes to the rescue! It’s our latest Firefox extension that integrates between FoxyTunes and Twitter, allowing one click posting of music currently playing in any one of supported media players to your Twitter profile.

And that’s not all – TwittyTunes posts more than just the song title – your friends will see a link to Foxytunes Planet where the song you were listening to comes to life – with tons of info about the artist, photos, song videos and much more!

As a bonus, TwittyTunes allows posting the current website you’re browsing, video you’re watching and so on. It will even work without FoxyTunes if you’re only after posting websites and general Twitter updates.

Grab TwittyTunes here and let us know what you think!

Also, you can go to TwittyTunes Twitter page and add us as your friend to be the first ones to get all the latest updates and announcements.

You can find tons of cool music stuff on FoxyTunes Planet and now we made it easier for you to share it with your friends and the world.

Found a new artist, a great photo or music video? We added new ‘Blog this’ buttons that will allow you to put the stuff you discover on your blog or homepage with just a few clicks. FoxyTunes Planet currently supports LiveJournal, WordPress.com, Blogger, TypePad, MySpace and Mog. We’ll be adding support for additional blogging platforms soon, along with a better integration with the current ones.

Bookmark artists

Now you can bookmark the artists you discover on FoxyTunes Planet in del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, Digg and a lot of other social bookmarking sites and services. We support all the major bookmarking services and quite a few of the smaller ones.

Send artists

Do you prefer to send the artists you discover directly to your friends? The ‘Send artist’ dialog will help you send your discoveries to friends via email.

By the way, we’ve redesigned the FoxyTunes main site, Blog and forums to match the new FoxyTunes Planet look – let us know what you think.

Stay tuned – we’ll be adding more stuff soon – both for discovering and sharing your music world!

FoxyTunes Planet launches

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

Today, after running for a while in a private beta, we are finally opening the first beta of FoxyTunes Planet to the public!

First, we wanted to thank everyone for the amazing feedback you sent us during the private beta.

So, what’s FoxyTunes Planet and why would you want to use it?

FoxyTunes Planet is a Universal Personalized Music Aggregator. Is this obscure enough? Then, read on… :)

Everything’s in one place

Each page on FoxyTunes Planet aggregates music information and rich media from all around the Web and allows you to instantly access all the great things that are out there – be it artist radio stations, recommendation services, videos, photos, reviews and so on.

Music related content should be abundant – why limit yourself to only one or two music sites, when there is an entire Internet out there. FoxyTunes Planet brings the entire Web of Music to your fingertips!

You choose

FoxyTunes Planet is personalizable - you are free to decide what you see and how you see it. Each piece of content, such as videos on YouTube or radio stations on Last.fm is presented in a “widget” – a little panel that allows you to quickly browse through the content. You can add, remove, reorder and configure the widgets any way you like – to create your own unique view on the world of music. FoxyTunes Planet already has many cool widgets and the list will be growing soon.

Wherever you are – FoxyTunes Planet is only a click away

FoxyTunes lets you discover the world of music related to what you are listening to with one click – right in your browser. It supports a huge number of media players and music services – it doesn’t matter whether you are listening to music with iTunes, Pandora or Winamp – the tiny FoxyTunes browser add-on instantly connects you to the Planet – your universal music dashboard.

Universal music link

Did you ever recommend music to a friend? Do you send a link to artist’s video? A Wikipedia page? Maybe a link to artist’s official website? Or a link to artist’s page in your favorite music service?

The problem is that video sites often don’t have artist bios, music information sites sometimes don’t have videos and music service links only work if your friends are using the same music services as you are.

Because FoxyTunes Planet pages have everything – videos, bios, photos, music services and much more, a single link to FoxyTunes Planet artist page allows your friends to discover all there is to discover about an artist. And, because the Planet is personalized, your friends will see the artists you send them through their own favorite sites and services.

Enhance, don’t replace

Just as with our universal browser add-on, our goal is to support and promote great music products and services that our users enjoy.
FoxyTunes doesn’t replace your favorite services – it enhances them, brings them closer to you and allows using many of them together.

FoxyTunes Planet

This is just the beginning

Although we think that FoxyTunes Planet is already a cool place for music lovers, this is really just a preview of what’s to come.

Stay tuned for more Foxyness coming soon! :)

FoxyTunes Planet: The Web 2.0 Version of Music Searching

Thanks a lot for writing about FoxyTunes!

FoxyTunes for IE 1.2 – new beta version

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

The next version of FoxyTunes for IE is here.

We’ve done a lot of work to make this version compatible with even more environments.

So, new in this version:

  1. Windows Vista support
  2. Seek slider
  3. TTPlayer support
TTPlayer is one of the most popular players in China
  4. Initial Maxthon browser support
still not perfect, but FoxyTunes for IE should work reasonably well in Maxthon
  5. Minor improvements and bug fixes

Get FoxyTunes 1.2 for IE here.

This version of FoxyTunes is still in beta – please let us know if you see any issues.

We are planning to add more features such as skins and additional players to FoxyTunes for IE soon.

Here at last – Last.fm support in FoxyTunes

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

First, if you haven’t tried Last.fm yet, you should definitely check it out – it’s a great service that can help you discover a lot of new music.

We really like Last.fm and from the many emails we received asking for Last.fm Player support in FoxyTunes, it’s pretty clear that you like it too!

So, with the latest version of FoxyTunes for Firefox, you get one click access to your Last.fm player right from the browser.

The new FoxyTunes will let you:

  • See what’s playing in your Last.fm player
  • Skip tracks and control the volume
  • Launch and show your Last.fm player with one click

You can get the new FoxyTunes version with Last.fm Player support here.

We’ll be adding Last.fm Player support to FoxyTunes for IE soon.

P.S. Our new site, FoxyTunes Planet, has a cool Last.fm widget – sign up for the private beta and check it out!

[edit] A tiny clarification: this version of FoxyTunes supports the Last.fm Player. It doesn’t submit your song info to Last.fm and doesn’t replace any Audioscrobbler plugins.

FoxyTunes Planet – private beta is here

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

FoxyTunes LogoAs you all know, FoxyTunes is a universal music browser add-on that supports more than 30 great media players and music services – iTunes, Winamp, Pandora, Rhapsody and Amarok are only a few examples and the list is always growing.

With FoxyTunes, you can have the same music experience no matter which music player you’re using. FoxyTunes gives you the freedom to use your favorite players from within your favorite browser and does all the integration work behinds the scenes.

We took the same principles of integration and universality to a completely new level by creating a new Web site – we’re calling it the “FoxyTunes Planet”.

FoxyTunes PlanetFoxyTunes Planet is a Universal Music Mashup. The Planet, along with the FoxyTunes browser add-on connects between your favorite media players and great music sites and services.

Today we are launching the Planet in an invitation-based private beta. It’s not public yet for two reasons – first, we want to make sure that the new site can handle the load of all the FoxyTunes users. Also, we want to get your feedback and make additional improvements before publicly launching the new site.

Currently, we are inviting a limited number of FoxyTunes users to the private beta. If you’d like to join the private beta and help us shape the next generation of FoxyTunes – sign up here.

Much more to come soon – stay tuned! :)
