FoxyTunes supports Spotify
If you haven’t heard about Spotify, it’s a new music service gaining popularity in western Europe. Some reviewers have called it the latest and greatest thing to happen to the music industry. Here’s how they describe themselves (we couldn’t agree more):
“Spotify is a new way to enjoy music. Simply download and install, before you know it you’ll be singing along to the genre, artist or song of your choice. With Spotify you are never far away from the song you want.
There are no restrictions in terms of what you can listen to or when. Forget about the hassle of waiting for files to download and fill up your hard drive before you get round to organising them. Spotify is instant, fun and simple.”
We’ve been hard at work on FoxyTunes and we’re proud to announce that in this release you can control Spotify from FireFox on Windows. We will be working hard over the coming months to extend that reach to IE and Mac. In the meantime, please let us know what you think of the feature as well as dropping a note to our friends over at Spotify.
If it’s supported in your country, go get yourself a copy. We hope it crosses the pond sometime soon because it’s a great product and we’re quite addicted to it.

The foxy tunes plugin is super duper awesome. Wish it worked with rhapsody standalone though!

It would be nice if foxytunes supported grooveshark.

It hangs firefox. I have installed this (3.5.8.1) on fresh profile firefox. Previously i installed on a profile with songbird support. It worked. Now on fresh one it does not. It freezes firefox after starts. If i disable it works fine.

And at me all was established and works perfectly. In time has found, how that did not reflect – whether it is necessary. And here in time.

Hey,
I’ve installed FoxyTunes and followed all of the instructions on the site, but spotify isn’t coming up as a selectable music player along with the others. Any advice?

Hey Matt,
Are you using Windows?
Currently Spotify support is only available on Windows, we’re working on adding Mac support as well.

Why is it when I go to youtube videos your add on immediately thinks I need the controls swapped over to youtube? The video controls are right there on the page! The whole point of foxytunes was to control music players without having to go off the browser, what is the point of using a music player control add on to control video?
I really dislike an add on I use to do things without my input. Please give me an option to disable youtube controls.

@Oliver – you can disable this behavior at Main Menu > Configuration > Advanced > Disable Player Auto Switching

Add-on displays current track but won’t let me control anything – cannot pause, play, forward or reverse but clicking in the spotify icon does take me to spotify – not really what i had in mind!

@reciprocity – play/pause/etc should work, please contact us at info@foxytunes.com and we’ll do our best to solve this issue

Any solution yet? I was waiting for this. Thanks for your work

Matt, Mark and painield – do you see it under the “More Players” sub-menu (Main Menu > Select Player > More Players)?
If not please contact us at info@foxytunes.com and we’ll do our best to help you.

I installed the latest Foxytunes update, and Firefox would not start at all. I had to remove the plugin from the profiles folder in order to get it working again.
Firefox 3.5.2
Mac 10.5.8

I’m already ok, for some reason a lot of the supported players were lacking from the list but it’s ok now. Using songbird and spotify, there’s even youtube control, wow. Thank you very much

I just started using Spotify and was impressed by the fact that FoxyTunes picked it up seamlessly (and it made it all very easy on me, almost making me forget that I was running a program I have only used once before).
However, there is a slight problem with Spotify. While Spotify is the selected FoxyTunes player, the FoxyTunes volume controls change the computer’s volume rather than Spotify’s. It would be appreciated if someone could look into this.
All in all, great job!

plz.. support grooveshark

Grooveshark should really be considered by foxytunes. Great free music with no audioad and no download. Grooveshark on icloud is my favorite combination!
